Plot of Gidget Goes Hawaiian movie 1961 starring deborah walley

The film opens with Francie 'Gidget' Lawrence (Deborah Walley) and Jeff 'Moondoggie' Matthews (James Darren) on their surfboards in the water, Gidget very excited that Jeff was on holiday from college. This leads to the opening credits and shows the montage of the two together.

While at breakfast one morning, Russ Gidget's father (Carl Reiner) announced they will vacation in Hawaii. Gidget, unlike most girls, do not like surprises and want him to tell more quickly, so that they can postpone the trip. Gidget refused to leave, and walked out the door. Gidget's mother Dorothy (Jean Donell), explained to him that Jeff is all that is important for Gidget. Russ and Dorothy decided to cancel a reservation Gidgets and keep one just for them both, so they can have a second honeymoon and Gidget can stay at home with Jeff.

Meanwhile, Gidget went to the beach, and told about going to Hawaii Moondoggie. Jeff thought it was great and said he should go. Gidget was surprised by this response and think that their relationship meant nothing to Jeff. He pins his back and fled, leaving the upset, confused and frustrated Moondoggie on the beach. He also decided to go to Hawaii to forget Jeff.

So Lawrence family pack and fly to Hawaii. While on the aircraft meets Gidget Abby Stewart (Vicki Trickett), whose family lived in the same hotel. Gidget parents and her parents Monty (Eddie Foy Jr.) and Mitzi (Peggy Cass) speaking in front of the plane. They both learn that Eddie Horner (Michael Callan) is a popular dancer perform in a theater-restaurant beside the hotel. They also meet three more people named Justice (Joby Baker), Larry (Don Edmonds), and Wally (Bart Patton). Abby enjoyed the fact that they all will be in the same hotel but it almost did not react Gidget. Abby figures that Gidget has just broken up and ask her to tell the story. Gidget does not, but with way too dramatic. He says it was love at first sight (the flashback scenes of other events). He then went on to say that he went to sea and "give herself completely," which she interpreted means that he went along the road. Gidget then tells Abby that he usually called "Moondoggie" which is very strange to find Abby.

When they reached Hawaii, Gidget's parents must obtain a separate room for Gidget instead of connecting one, because they cancel previous bookings. While other people enjoy Hawaii and have fun, Gidget and sadness still in her room all day. Abby is playing with the emotions of all boys, but especially Eddie Horner, because he is the best liked. He seems like Abby too, but also find flowers in Gidget. Gidget's dad felt bad and decided to send a message to Jeff, telling him that Gidget is pathetic, and it'll make her feel better if he (Jeff) fly there. When Jeff learned of this he immediately accepted.

Abby visits Gidget night, and invited him to dinner with Eddie, Judge, Larry and Wally and Herself. Abby decided to go with them all, because he did not want to vote. Gidget declined and said he'd be happier if he stayed in his room. After she leaves, Gidget's mother came in and said he felt bad but Gidget have enjoyed my time there and have fun with Abby and the kids (Gidget mothers who do not know about Russ plans to have Jeff come). Gidget agrees and says she'll be right there.

While at the restaurant, Abby is upset because he could not alone with Eddie, so he found two other girls named Barbara Jo and DeeDee to accompany them. Once there they will talk with Eddie Abby alone while Wally, Judge and Larry argue about Barbara Jo and DeeDee. Meanwhile, Gidget and her parents are also in the restaurant (in a separate table) and talk when Russ received a telegram that Jeff is taking the first plane out. Back at the other Eddie table she asked why her friend could not join them. She replied that she was not interested. While she says this we see Gidget appeared dressed up to join them, it is very surprising from Abby, children, and Gidget's father. All persons, including Eddie now really interested in her Abby much wrath. Finally they announced the time for dancing in which Eddie automatically take Gidget's hands, leaving her angry and Judge happy dance. Gidget and Eddie seem to fit. That night in the hotel room Gidget's, she came back and explain to how he was upset because Gidget Gidget just come like that and not even mention Abby invited. Gidget does not realize how upset she was and replied that he was only doing his mother's aid.

The next day we see Gidget surfing, and once again she is very upset because it looks at Abby hates water and refuses to sign (Barbara Jo and DeeDee did not get in either because they could not swim). Gidget is also not informed that he surfs Abby. People watched in amazement as surfing Gidget shows off his movement. They were later joined Gidget, and Eddie asks her to surf lessons. On the first attempt, she deleted out. After that, running back Eddie and Gidget on the beach, where they are alone and Eddie kissing. Gidget pull away at first, but will go back to kissing him. Just at that moment, Jeff appears but then claims he thought himself to another girl. After he left, Eddie tried to come back and kiss Gidget, but she pushed him away and run after Moondoggie. Gidget and Moondoggie get into a fight and decided to split up. That night they were all at dinner when she arrived with Jeff (although she did not know that she was the girlfriend of Gidget, like Gidget only identify himself as Moondoggie). Gidget tries to make jealous by flirting with Jeff Eddie. They also started a conversation about things that are benign and Gidget judge said that he should try water skiing (which at the time it's really at risk) and Gidget said he would.

The next day everyone is in the ski jump but only Gidget tries. He seemed nice, but once he got the jump, she let go of the handle, and go hit the water. Jeff and the judge got into the boat and rescued him. While on the ship will return to join the others, tempting Gidget with Hakim and agreed to go with him that night to watch Eddie perform, all in front of Jeff.

The next morning they were all on the boat and Gidget act offended by comments she made about water. So Gidget go to other parts of the boat and Jeff followed. He went and told him to cut it out, even though Jeff thinks Abby is now like it. Abby decided to start a rumor about Gidget told how she slept with Eddie and others, rationalizing that half true because Gidget said that he gave himself a "true" to "people moondoggie". Abby told her mother Mitzi who then go and tell Gidget's mother Dorothy. Dorothy refused to believe and say that she thinks Abby started this rumor, and they argued. Dorothy says Russ and they both questions Gidget; he denied even thinking about it. This leaves her parents, especially her father's anger and frustration. Dorothy and Russ getting into fights. Russ leaves and go to the bar. While Monty and Mitzi is also getting into fights because Mitzi think Monty should have kept his mouth which resulted Mitzi went to the bar. While at the bar, Mitzi and Russ talk and realize that they see eye to eye on things and drink. While Monty and Dorothy talk in the hotel room and go down to the bar in the hotel. After talking to Russ and Mitzi decided to go to Space Mauhana. Just as they left, Dorothy and Monty Mauhana also go to the room, but by another route. This is all witnessed by the officers at the table.

Meanwhile in Abby's Luau is the center of attention, and happy, especially since Gidget does not exist. Eddie went for a walk and hit a Gidget who told him about the rumors going around and said he did not want to leave because he did not know if anyone else has heard. Eddie then pulled me aside and said she fell in love with her Gidget. Gidget told him that he did not like it, and that he was sorry. They agreed to become friends. Gidget a stroll on the beach. While at the beach, Gidget image itself immoral and pregnant.

Back at the Luau, Abby and Jeff were talking and she tells him about the rumor that Gidget sleeping around. Jeff could not believe it. She later admitted it was a lie and he (Gidget) only had one affair. Jeff asked when Gidget said, and she replies that Gidget told me on the plane, but why any girl would fall for a guy called "Moondoggie" outside of himself. Jeff then realized how much she cares about Gidget. He says that he likes her and to call him what everyone in the house calling, "Moondoggie." Jeff ran away from her uncomfortable in Luau. On the beach Moondoggie and Gidget go back and talk about what happened on the way back to the hotel. Gidget asks if parents and staff officers sais Abby's Dad and Mom Gidgets go one way while Dad and Mom Abby Gidgets go in another direction. Gidget leaves are very worried and he decided to wait for them in their room and Moondoggie with him.

We then see Monty, Mitzi, Russ, and Dorothy spoke together at the table. They discuss the situation, and Mitzi said he would punish her when they returned. Dorothy decided to call to see if Gidget is in her room, but gets no answer. When they returned to the hotel, they decided to wait Gidget in her room. Meanwhile in a suite Gidget parents and worried because she thought her parents betray one another. So he and Jeff made a plan. In a suite of Gidget's, Dorothy's friends all call Gidget's asked if they saw him. The news was then up to Abby who feels horrible to think that he caused all this. DeeDee Finally, she, her parents, Eddie, Judge, Wally and Larry are in the suite Gidgets worrying about where he is. Gidget's father eventually returned to his suite to get something. Russ came to seek and Moondoggie Gidget kissing on the couch. She wept with relief, but Gidget informed him that his mother was sleeping, but he remains so visible bed to sleep into But to get out of here and back in the morning, so he would not be suspicious. Russ played together and she and Jeff both went to the suite where Jeff Gidget saw that everyone was waiting. Russ said that Dorothy came in and "get what I got." He went and Gidget said the same thing, but Dorothy went to the bedroom and Gidget thinks his father and no problems will arise concerns. But to surprise, his father slept in the bed. He taps and he jumped and shouted "Boo!" Then everyone else came in and laughed at Gidget. Gidget laughs and kisses Jeff and Eddie says sorry but he had no chance against Jeff and explained to everyone what happened. Everything was fine until Gidget realizes he has some unfinished business. The next day the gang dragged her into the water. We saw the wave coming and yelled at her surfboard was Gidget. Gidget is only visible to Jeff and laughed.
